How to Easily Make Custom Sports Jerseys

I was never really into sports as a kid, and I wouldn’t necessarily say I am now. I love going to different games because, for the most part, I enjoy the atmosphere. A lot of times I keep up with scores and games to make sure I know what people are talking about. It’s always good to know something relevant for small talk.

The only sport I really keep on top of is women’s soccer (or really, football), both here in the US, and around the world. I love the passion, the intensity, and the obvious camaraderie these teams share.

Liz and I have gone to NWSL and USWNT games together up and down the east coast. We do love our road trips! She even got me a signed team jersey for Christmas once. Check out our How-To on shadow boxes to see how I framed it for my room!

Recently, Liz, Jo, and I decided to support each other’s favorite sports. So Jo has been tuning into soccer with us - we’ll be going to Kentucky to catch the Women’s Cup at Lynn Stadium soon. Meanwhile, Liz and I have been keeping up with gymnastics, Jo’s true love. I finally understand all those memes about Simone Biles and goats! The house has been loud as we pile onto the couch watching all these events while stuffing our faces. It’s definitely been some of the most fun I’ve had in awhile. Our grandmother even comes down to yell at the screen with us.

When the season starts again, Jo and I will tune into the NWHL with Liz, but for now we’re into the Summer 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. And hockey is definitely not a summer sport. Gymnastics and soccer are taking up our time as we wake up at 4AM to watch, trudging through work the rest of the day. But who needs sleep when there’s games to be had?

The most exhausting thing about loving these sports, though, is how expensive the merchandise can be. I love a good jersey, but come on, they’re mad money! We decided to make these t-shirt jerseys for the Olympics so we could rep our favorite athletes affordably and stylishly. Even Matt, who by no means is a sporty guy, took part in celebrating with us in his own Matt way.

I think it was a total success! We plan to make more for other sporting events, and even as party favors for things like bachelorette parties, birthdays, and family reunions. Whoever and whatever you’re repping, we hope you have as much fun making these with your friends and family as we did.
